Hi Jamie

I know up and down like the proverbial - makes me want a dedicated bitcoin CPU/GPU piece of kit.

I have amended as follows:

Correction: When this post went up, I commented on a bitcoin miner being installed. I was incorrect and should have explored the site more. When on the site, a bitcoin miner runs in the background, donating some of your CPU cycles to mining bitcoins. Many apologies for implying that this might have been nefarious.

Cheers

(Sadly my Welsh is limited - I am a somewhat ashamed southerner from Monmouth which could never really decided upon its heritage).

Cheers

Maggie - love the feedback.

That's the thing that is misunderstood about teaching - the all consuming nature of the profession. Sure, we can leave site at 4pm(ish) and get 13 weeks holiday BUT the demands on our brain during the school day and after hours is like nothing else.

The biggest battle of my professional life has been to accept that I am NOT indispensable (currently on secondment to the Welsh Government) and the place has not fallen apart without me. Lessons need planning, books need marking and inspections need preparing for - but my family is always here and after all, they should come first.

I can't imagine when I retire uttering the words "I wish I had marked more books" - but I can imagine "I wish I had spent more time with my kids".

Cheers

Thanks. Much appreciated.

It actually brings in very little revenue and probably puts people off so might remove it and just leave the donation address up. Glad to have got someone else interested in Bitcoins too. It's been quite a thrill ride this past week!

Hi

How strange that i have come across your page tonight (through TES) and stumbeled across this blog you have written. Today the last day of the easter holidays my colleages and myself were only discussing today that we to need to get some kind of work life balance as like you say it consumes your brain 24/7. it was great to switch off the first week and just slob with mindless TV, going to bed late and sleeping late, speeking to loved ones and catching up with old friends. However, the need to get this work life balance is paramount if we are to survive long enough to get a pension :). So once ive marked my BTEC!! and planned lessons, looked at organising and planning for our imminent OFSTED visit i think the next half term will be a time to evaluate and make that list!!! It has been great reading your site x x

Hi Jamie

Good point - and I'll ammend the post.

As this is an Educational blog, I was conscious of the javascript install. I did not mean to imply that this was "devious" in any way. And as a result I have learned about BitCoins -- and am now hooked.

Thanks for the come back -- edit pending.. ;-)

Cheers

Hi Glen. Glad you've found this useful. Mileage expense allowance calculations are actually one of the things people get in touch about most often.

Just to clarify though, the site doesn't actually install a bitcoin miner, it just runs while you're on the page as a way of generating micropayments. Think of it as donating a small amount from your electricity bill. There is also a button on the side bar to start or stop it running too - and a bitcoin donation address if you found anything on the site really useful.

Anyway, thanks for the link.
