Using Pivot Tables to analyse school data
I love pivot tables as they offer the flexibility to rapidly alter your visualisation of a large data set.
You can alter which way you look at data – by year, class, sex, teacher etc etc without changing the structure of your spreadsheet. Think of a pivot table as a layer of analysis on top of your data.
However, I find that I can’t explain the benefits of a pivot table without demonstrating them….. so, here’s a link to a Youtube clip I made for CPD at school.
(BTW, the names of students are not real before anyone contacts me
)
Using pivot tables can shave hours off your exam analysis and can throw up relationships that you did not see before.
Putting this clip up made me think: What CPD can you share with the wider world?
